Bikes
Remember when you learned to ride a bike and how proud you (and your loved ones) were? We all have many "bikes" in our lives. Yesterday a close friend of mine conquered a "bike" in his life. Praise God! He was able to do it because of prayer, preparation, and the Holy Spirit. Congratulations Jonathan! Jesus and I are proud of you. - Pastor Mike
Horns
I love to walk in natural, as well as urban areas. One is peaceful and the other is full of movement and noise. The one thing that irritates me are car and truck horns. When people honk, sometimes the noise makes me jump. God honks at us sometimes, but other tiems he whispers in a thin, small voice. Always be attentive and listen for Him. - Pastor Mike
Pruning
Yesterday I spent hours gardening. I love to over-winter some evergreens that I repot for our deck. Before repotting them, I have to prune the roots and greenery so that they remain healthy, grow denser, and stay in check, size-wise. God does the same to us. He prunes us so that we will bear more Fruit of the Spirit and walk closer to Him (John 15). - Pastor Mike
hairnets
The young adults and I had to don a hairnet, plastic gloves, and an apron in order to serve lunch at the Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries a couple of days ago. I have to admit, I was the last holdout on the hair net. Wearing a hairnet humbles a person because you know that you look dorkey. What a small sacrifice to become the hands and feet of Jesus! - Pastor Mike
Soups
The soups at the GroupPeru! '12 Fundraiser were delightful. The 11 members of the team are continuing to lower their personal cost of $1800 to go and represent FPC-Dearborn to our friends in Peru. How cool to see the growing congregational relationships at the luncheon forshadowing the growing relationships we will experience with the rescued street boys in Peru! -Pastor Mike
Decision
A young adult that I know is struggling with the decision to accept Christ as his Savior. He is afraid that he will need to make too many changes in his life. I told him that he would need to turn 180 degrees from the way he was headed and would need to start living a less sinful life. He is not quite ready to let Jesus into his heart. Pray for him. - Pastor Mike
Fulfilled
"Fulfilled? Fulfilled", is my 2 word story. I once tried to fill my life with accomplishments. I was never satisfied, because all these were done with me in mind. Once God revealed that he wanted me to do things for others in His name, I became fulfilled. "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled." - Matt. 5:6 -Pastor Mike
Panera Cares
A couple of days ago my friends Bob and Lawrence joined me for a Discipleship class at Panera Cares. It was great to spend time with them in fellowship and learning about God. Matthew 18: 20 tells us, "For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there I am also." I wonder how many others noticed that Jesus was there, in the mix? - Pastor Mike
Hail
Yesterday's hail/rain/thunder storm was quite an event. As Lynn and I watched, I voiced my concern about whether or not our tulips were going to take a beating. John 14;27 lent me some strength. "Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." - Pastor Mike
Excuses
Monster.com has come out with the top 10 things that you shouldn't say to your boss. After #1, "I need a raise", the #2 excuse is "This just isn't possible". Have you ever said #2 to God? Remember that the Bible says, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." -Philippians 4:13. When you are at the end of your rope, reach out to God. - Pastor Mike
