Ice Storm
Ice storms cover everything with a slippery coating that causes much pain. Applying salt makes ice melt. Sin is like an ice storm. It coats life with a slippery coating of deception. Christians need to be examples of salt in this world. "Salt is good, but if it loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again?"-Luke 14:34. Stay salty! -Pastor Mike.
Joy
We all want joy in our lives. Knowing what direction God wants us to take in this life gives us purpose, and purpose brings joy. Doing what God would have us to do also brings promise of a joyful eternal life. "You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand." -Psalm 16:11. -Pastor Mike
Discernment
To mature as a Christian, we must learn discernment. For some this is a spiritual gift, but the rest of us must ask God to train us to distinguish good from evil. "But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil." -Hebrews 5:14. Ask God to help you to recognize temptation before it traps you. -Pastor Mike.
Recognition
At times have you ever felt that you were not properly recognized for what you did? I have. Rejoice in the fact that God's recognition counts more than human praise, and he will bless us in his timing. "Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time." -1 Peter 5:14. Humbly obey God! -Pastor Mike
Recognition
If you are like me, you may worry about your position and status, hoping to get proper recognition for what you do. Peter reminds us that God's recognition counts more than human praise. Light
God is light and sin is darkness. "But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin." -1 John 1:7. Jesus has paid the penalty for our sins and his blood has washed away our sins. Just as Jesus has risen from the grave, we have risen to a new life with him! -Pastor Mike
Input/Output
What we put into our minds via the TV, movies, internet and publictions determines what comes out in our words and actions. "Finally brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable - if anything is excellent or praiseworthy I think about such things. -Philippians 4:8. -Pastor Mike
Hungry
A young adult that I work with was hungry today, so I took him out for breakfast. "Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to him, "Go, I wish you well: keep warm and well fed, but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it.?" -James 2:15-16. Jesus commanded us..."feed my sheep." -Pastor Mike
Rocky Road
Rocky Road. Love the ice cream...dislike the journey! Jesus gets us through rocky roads just as a good shepherd gets his sheep to green pasture. Trust in His guidance. "I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me - just as the Father knows me and I know the Father - and I lay my life down for the sheep." -John 10:14-15. -Pastor Mike
Fantasies
We are so good at becoming god of our fantasies, rather than allowing God to speak to us for His will. "Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work in us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever!
