Sensing God in the Living Waters
John 7:38
Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him. Watching the video of the water coming alive into a person dancing.
I remember the story of a fundamentalist pastor from a large church, who preached on the potential evils of modern dancing. One day he was reading about how David danced before the Lord with all his might (2 Samuel 6:14). As he was praying, God asked him if he would dance before Him like David did. At first the pastor told God why he couldn't do it. Later as he prayed some more, God asked the pastor again if he would dance before Him as David did. Soon after in his church, he danced before the Lord. As he did it, he knew the joy of praising God and letting the Spirit flow.
While my dancing has all the grace and rhythm of a Frankenstein, I do know the joy of dancing before the Lord within my Spirit. I was listening to an outdoor music concert by the Boston Pops and having a hard time getting into the music when a nearby young child suddenly started dancing to the music. All at once I began to feel the music through her joy. When I first accepted the Lord as my Savior, parts of me that seemed dead and empty became alive. It was as if my spirit came alive and danced or flowed with the Holy Spirit. It was like on a hot day, drinking from mountain streams and being refreshed. Our souls continually need God's refreshing.
