Cole Slaw
I love cole slaw. I am the only one in our house that does. I can eat it as a salad along with a meal and I can use it as a dip with nacho chips for an evening snack. I am glad that God made us all differently with different tastes and different talents. Be unique, step out of the box, and in all things, do them to bring glory to Christ! - Pastor Mike
Bread
"I am the bread of life." - John 6:48. When Jesus said this he meant that we need to accept Christ into our lives and become united with him. United by believing in his sacrifice on the cross for us and his resurrection, devoting ourselves to living as he requires, depending on his teaching for guidance, and trusting in the Holy Spirit for power. - Pastor Mike
Training
"For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come. 1 Tim. 4:8. Physical fitness is important, but so is spiritual fitness. While we may be susceptable to disease and injury, our faith can sustain us throught these tragedies. Get spiritually fit. Just do it! - Pastor Mike
Donation
Our two youth groups went to Fed the Hungry on the streets of Detroit. Jonathan and I made chili, hot-dogs, and chocolate chip cookies. After we were done serving, we took the extra hotdogs, buns, and cookies to donate to the DRMM's soup kitchen. A guy inside told us, "The greatest nation in the world is a do-nation!" Too funny! - Pastor Mike
Wind
The wind yesterday was unbelievable. Made me think about Pentecost. (Acts 2) - "Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting...tongues of fire came to rest on each of them...they were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in tongues..." Wow! - Pastor Mike
Prayer
After Worship yesterday, Jonathan and I stayed up front to receive people for prayer. We had a few requests for healing, focus, and general well-being. Honestly, when you pray with someone you receive as much blessing as they do. It's like a triangle. Prayer raises up to the Father, back to the receipient, and then back to you. Awesome! - Pastor Mike
Speaking
James, Jesus' brother and a leader in the Jerusalem church, compares the damage the tongue can do to a raging fire. Even if we apologize later, the scar remains, perhaps destroying a relationship that took years to build. Before you speak, remember that words are like fire - you can neither control or reverse the damage they can do. - Pastor Mike
Witness
"Can I get a witness?" are the words in a Motown song. Jesus says in John 15:8, "This is to my Father's glory, that as you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples." Our actions and words bear witness to how close we walk with God. Apart from Christ our efforts are unfruitful. Can I get a witness? My hope is that it is you! - Pastor Mike
Discernment
As Christians, we must grow to maturity as we learn how to discern good from evil. Can you recognize temptation before it traps you? Hebrews 5:14 says, "But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil." We must train our consciences, senses, minds and bodies to discern between right and wrong. - Pastor Mike
Love
In 1 Corinthians 13, Paul writes about love. God's love is directed outward toward others. This is the kind of love that expects nothing in return. The more we become like Christ, the more love we will show to others. Want a tough assignment? Share some love with someone who has recently hurt you. That's what Jesus did for us. - Pastor Mike
