Control
"The mind of the sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace: the sinful mind is hostile to God." -Romans 8:6. Paul says that we can be controlled by sin or submit to what the Holy Spirit tells us what to do. Use the Bible, pray, seek out mature Christian advice, and eagerly do what the Holy Spirit tells you to do. -Pastor Mike
Beyond
Ever think that the past, present, and future can all be revealed at one time? "For we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." -2 Corinthians 4:18. What we experience in the present is not all there is...there is eternal life which starts now, as soon as you come to Christ. -Pastor Mike
Tomorrow
Ever worry about what is on the road ahead? I am not saying that you shouldn't plan ahead, because planning can help you alleviate worry. "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." -Matthew 6:34. Trust in God and keep in close relationship with Him. -Pastor Mike
Worth
Is easy to get down on ourselves, isn't it? Many times we focus on what we can't do, rather than what we can do. Psalm 8:5 says, "You made him (humans) a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor". Since God has already declared how worthy we are to him, we can rest assured in our value. -Pastor Mike
Transformed
You become like whatever you worship. If it is money, you become stingy. If it is fame, you become conceited. Follow Christ, and become more like him. "And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his likeness with everlasting glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit." -2 Corinthians 3:18. -Pastor Mike
Courage
Have you ever been in a situation in which you were terrified? Once a youth convinced me to go on an undergound roller coaster ride that freaked me out. I prayed through the entire ride that I would make it through alive. Moses tells us in Deuteronomy 31 to be strong and courageous because God will never leave us or forsake us. That's good news! - Pastor Mike
Promise
Remember as a child when you became seperated from your parents at a store? For a quick moment, you became anxious and feared the worst. "What if I never see them again?" Not so with Jesus! "Neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to seperate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord." - Romans 8:39. -Pastor Mike
Seek
"My heart says of you, "'Seek his face!"' Your face Lord, I will seek." -Psalm 27:8 God's nature is one of blessing us. Our nature should be to seek that blessing with a spirit of thanksgiving. Likewise, our nature then should be one of blessing others with our gifts and talents. Line up a need in the world with your talent to meet that need. Priceless!
Wants vs. Needs
"And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus." -Phillipians 4;19. The musical group, the Rolling Stones, sang that "you can't always get what you want, but you get what you need". So it is with God. By trusting in Him, our attitude changes from wanting everything, to accepting His provision to live for Him. -Pastor Mike
Success
We all desire to be successful, don't we?. "Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or the left, that you may be successful wherever you go."-Joshua 1:7. Success requires strength, obeying God's law, and reading & studying God's Word. -Pastor Mike
