Weary
Hebrews 12: 3 states, "Consider him (Jesus) who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart." Our mission team just returned from Peru with sinus infections, irritated eyes, and nagging coughs. But we have also returned knowing that over a hundred lives were changed because God did not allow our team to grow weary. -Pastor Mike
Focus
Keeping your eyes on Jesus is the same thing as trusting him. So often I want to look away, thinking that things of this world are worthy of my trust; money, recognition, education, and such. But Jesus is the only, lasting answer. "Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you." -2 Peter 5:7. He cares so much that he went to the cross for us! -Pastor Mike
Peru
This will be my last blog for 2 weeks as I am leading a group of 11 on a missionary trip to Peru early tomorrow morning. Paul tells Timothy in 1 Timothy 4:2 to "Preach the Word". Our team will be preaching the Word in thought, action, and speech, as we reconnect with the rescued street boys that we have been working with for over 11 years. -Pastor Mike
Prosperity
Ever feel sometimes that evil people prosper while good people suffer? Habakkuk felt that way. In Habakkuk 1, we see him complain to God twice before he realizes that God's answer is that evil doers don't prosper in the long run. God is God and he will do what is right. This can give us confidence and hope in a world that is confusing. - Pastor Mike
Morph
Investing in someone's life is one of the greatest gifts that you can give. You can assist that person to morph into all that God has created them to be. "Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! -2 Corinthians 5:17. You morph, and so does the person that you pour into to! -Pastor Mike
Nothing
Ever wonder about how something in your life that has gone wrong can be made right? God doesn't want us focusing our attention on our problems. He desires that we focus our attention on him. "For nothing is impossible with God." -Luke 4;37. While it may be scarey, even feel dangerous, the safest place is to be in God's will. -Pastor Mike
Peace
"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." - John 14:27. Jesus is telling us that we will have peace because he will send the Holy Spirit which will give us confident assurance in the present or future. This will keep our heart and mind close to Jesus. -Pastor Mike
Weeds
I always suggested that my landscaping crew look at only one square foot of weeds at a time, and then to move on to the second square foot, until the entire job was completed. Hebrews 12:3 tells us to consider ther hardship of Christ so that we will not grow weary and lose heart. Suffering, like weeding, is the training ground for maturity. -Pastor Mike
Safe!
Do you remember as a little child when your parent would toss you slightly into the air and catch you? Like most kids, you probably squeeled with joy because it was an experience that combined both adventure with trust. ""Surely God is my salvation: I will trust and not be afraid." -Isaiah 12: 2a. Allow God to be your strength! - Pastor Mike
All Things
Ever wonder what good can come out of a bad situation? God often uses difficulties to show how muchwe can actually accomplish through the help of the Holy Spirit. "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." -Romans 8:28. How can you turn-around a bad situation? -Pastor Mike
