Converge
Magnolia
Wow! The trees have just popped out in bloom. I catch their fragrence whenever I run by one in the morning. Proverbs 27:9 tells us that "The heartfelt counsel of a friend is as sweet as perfume and incense." Have you taken time lately to listen to a friend's story? Afterward, pray with them for the fragrant leading of the Holy Spirit. - Pastor Mike
Dehydrated
I took my afternoon walk a bit later than I normally do and in a hurry, I forgot to hydrate with a couple of glasses of water. With the record heat and sun, halfway through my 4 miles I began to get a headache, felt weak, and nauseous. I was dyhydrated. How about your spiritual life? Are you feeling weak? Ask for the Holy Spirit to hydrate you! - Pastor Mike
Trip
On an early morning run, I hit a raised piece of sidewalk with the toe of my shoe and nearly tripped. Fortunately I was able to recover before tumbling down. Satan is like that. Just like my refreshing run, when life is going well Satan tries to trip you up. Stay alert, pray often, and read your Bible on a daily basis. - Pastor Mike
Coach Tom
I had the pleasure to coach with Tom Martin on the Dearborn Vipers Premier Soccer Team. Tom recently passed away. His passion was working with teens and making them into the best that they could be, mentally, physically, and spiritually. I am so glad that I recently talked with him. Life is short...invest yourself in someone who needs your coaching. - Pastor Mike
Milk
Would you offer a newborn baby a cheeseburger? Of course not! Without teeth, how could an infant chew? Same thing goes with non/new Christians. Offer them the "milk" of a testimony of how your life has changed since accepting Christ as Lord and Savior. Don't quote Scripture, pressure them, or beat them up. Start slow and be relational. - Pastor Mike
Thorn
When I was washing my Transit, I dropped the hose between some rose canes. I went to retrieve it and got a huge thorn in my finger. It ached for a few days. The apostle Paul talked about a thorn in his side, but he was talking about those who persecuted him for preaching about Christ. Thorns can teach us patience & that our help comes only from God. -Pastor Mike
Art Class
At Converge we offered up an alternative class to Apologetics. The class was constructing a collage using words from magazines as well as painting a canvas. I really didn't think that many people would be interested in the art class but we had 6 who were. God has gifted us all in different ways. Let's continue to provide outlets for Him to use us! - Pastor Mike
Fog
It is really foggy out this morning. On my walk I noticed that even though the fog hid most everything, the street lights and stop lights lit up and through the fog, casting a glow. No matter how foggy and dark our world gets, the light of Christ, emitting from you, can be a glowing beacon and outreach to those who don't know Jesus. - Pastor Mike
Checkbook
I found an out-of-state checkbook with no phone number on my walk early this morning. Ugh!, finding the owner will be difficult. This "find" reminded me that as followers of Christ, God has already "cashed the check" that paid for our sins through the death of his son, Jesus. Jesus overcame death to purchase Eternal Life for us. We have been paid for in full! - Pastor Mike
Lightening
I encountered much heat lightening on my walk early this morning. Lightening in the Bible has been used to symbolize power, brilliance, and quickness. In the OT it was used in theophanies (appearences by God) and in the NT mostly found in apocalypic (end times or age to come) contexts. Next time you encounter lightening, think of just how great God is. - Pastor Mike
