Bonfire

This past weekend Converge Young Adults and Crew and 4:12 Youth Groups celebrated Pentecost with bonfires.  We cooked over them, sang around them, and visited with each other near them.  One representation of the Holy Spirit is that of fire.  We are empowered by the Holy Spirit to be "on fire" for spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ. -Pastor Mike

Remembering

Remember the first time that you rode a bike by yourself? God has gifted us all with the sense of remembering.  This can be a blessing when we remember something wonderful, but also when we remember something that was painful...we can learn from both.  Today is a day to remember those who gave their lives for our freedom.  God bless them! -Pastor Mike

Ice Cream

A friend of mine took three of us out for ice cream yesterday.  It was a great time to reconnect and share some laughs.  We also spent time talking about relationships, college plans, and other stuff that are on the minds of many teens and young adults.  Take timme to go out and have ice cream, coffee, or a walk with a friend and let God speak through you. -Pastor Mike

Scrape

Converge Young Adults was a riot yesterday.  We had 40 plus people show up for a campfire, great hot meal, singing and strumming, and lots of games.  I played football and fell into a low area on the lawn, scrapping my knee and injuring two of my fingers.  Life is like that.  We fall down but with God's help, we get up and continue in his will. -Pastor Mike

Prayer

"Devote yourself to prayer, being watchful and thankful." - Colossians 4:2.  Have you ever become tired of praying for something?  Devoting oneself to prayer means to be persistant and faithful that God will answer.  The answer may come slowly, but know that God is always present, listening, and answering, in ways that he knows are best. -Pastor Mike

Trust

"For where your trasure is, there your heart will be also." - Matthew 6:21.  This passage is not limited to money and "stuff", but means that we should act in obedience to God's will.  Trust in what God wants to do through you, through your gifts and talents, your treasures, and your time.  Allow God to invest us in any way that he determines. -Pastor Mike

Nothing

""For nothing is impossible with God." - Luke 1:37.  I'm a "take-charge" kind of guy.  I plan things out, work hard at them, and then expect them to happen.  Many times (all the time, if I am being honest) I need to slow down and talk to God before I get ahead of his timing.  God is sovereign.  he has a plan and times it out just perfectly. -Pastor Mike

Hospitality

"Share with God's people who are in need.  Practice hospitality." -Romans 12:13.  I left lunch yesterday for a homeless guy who spends time behind the Borick's (Telegraph near Mich. Ave).  Inside I also tucked in a book written by Billy Graham.  I haven't been able to come in personal contact with the man.  Pray that I am able to minister to him soon. - Pastor Mike

Praise

"Yet you are enthroned as the Holy One; you are the praise of Israel." - Psalm 22:3.  It is impossible to praise or thank God too much.  While it may be easy to praise God when we are richly blessed, we must also praise him when adversity strikes.  This shows that we trust in God's sovereignty and will help us to live in the intimacy of his presence. - Pastor Mike

Daily

"Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires." - Romans 8:5.  We must daily choose to center our lives on God, the Bible and its guidelines, and ask, "What would Jesus want me to do?", and then do it eagerly! - Pastor Mike
